About the summit

Past summit

The 2025 Kansas Mental Health Summit will take place August 26 and 27 in Hays. It is a collaborative effort involving all three branches of government and behavioral health professionals. The 2025 Kansas Mental Health Summit is the second summit of its kind. It supports a national initiative to improve court and community response to mental health issues that bring people to our courts. It combines national and local speakers who will educate and inform participants on how each system partner can contribute to improving court and community response to mental health issues.

Past summit

The 2022 Kansas Mental Health Summit took place April 13 and 14 in Topeka. It featured local and national speakers who educated and informed more than 600 participants about how each stakeholder in the process can help improve the court’s response to mental health issues. Speakers are listed on a summit fact sheet

This initiative emanates from the National Judicial Task Force to Examine State Courts’ Response to Mental Illness, a collaboration of the National Center for State Courts, the Conference of Chief Justices, the Conference of State Court Administrators, and the State Justice Institute.
